The house

Local Foreigner is a New York–based luxury travel consultancy designing bespoke journeys worldwide for private clients, families and groups. Led by partners Alex Erdman Ely, Alexandra Hanover, Barkley Hickox and Brooke Lavery, the firm works with discerning travelers who value their time and expect every aspect of a journey to be considered, coordinated and personally relevant.

Its advisors bring first-hand knowledge to the planning process, from the hotels they have stayed in and the restaurants they have experienced to the owners, managers, guides and local specialists they know personally. Every journey begins with careful listening and is developed through a structured process supported by detailed client records. Preferences, personal details and feedback are retained in a robust CRM, allowing the team’s understanding of each traveler to deepen over time.

Local Foreigner plans luxury and ultra-luxury travel across Europe, Africa, Asia-Pacific, the Americas and the world’s leading island destinations. Its expertise includes multigenerational family travel, destination celebrations, safaris, yacht charters, private villas and complex multi-stop journeys. Dedicated trip teams coordinate flights and private aviation, hotels, guides, transfers, dining, special access and concierge arrangements, followed by meticulous reconfirmation and support throughout the journey.
