Regency Group is a privately owned luxury travel agency founded in Tokyo in 2000 by Isao Numano. It was built on the conviction that luxury travel begins with listening. Every bespoke itinerary is designed from the client’s perspective and shaped around their individual wishes rather than a standard package, an approach that has made the company a trusted choice for Japanese luxury travelers seeking a more personal service.
Numano spends around 150 days each year traveling across Europe and the world, personally evaluating the hotels, restaurants and destinations recommended by his travel designers. He also scouts remote regions, including Antarctica and Southern and East Africa, before clients travel there. This first-hand expertise is supported by more than two decades of relationships with affiliated offices in France, Italy, Spain, Switzerland and Austria. Regency Group extends the same approach through The Suitcase by Regency Group, its digital magazine dedicated to original destination journalism.
The agency primarily designs extended journeys for multigenerational families and retired couples, as well as high-net-worth individuals and company owners. At its core are around 300 longstanding frequent travelers who contact their travel designer directly because the team understands their lifestyle, interests and travel history. Regency Group regards them as culturally engaged travelers, not simply high spenders. Recognized by Traveller Made with its Supplier Knowledge Award in 2017 and by Serandipians for thoroughness in 2024, Regency Group connects Japan’s discerning outbound travelers with the trusted, owner-led international relationships at the heart of The Alliance.
